Practice Areas

Dušan Valent primarily specialises in competition law and control of foreign direct investments.

Dušan has worked on numerous major merger control cases notified to the European Commission. He has experience with cases concerning anticompetitive agreements and abuse of dominance investigated by the European Commission, and by competition authorities in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and other countries, including countries outside the European Union.

Before joining HAVEL & PARTNERS, he worked for more than four years in the Brussels office of a US law firm.

  • representing Veolia (a French water and waste management company) in its acquisition of Suez (active in the same field of business as Veolia) before the European Commission and also before other competition authorities in Africa, Asia and South America)
  • representing a major US technology company in a cartel investigation before the European Commission
