Ivan Rámeš’ main area of focus is intellectual property and technology law. He specialises in a comprehensive definition of IP strategy both in the Czech Republic and abroad, in enforcement of industrial property rights and copyrights, and particularly in counterfeits and pirated goods, parallel imports and the exhaustion of IP rights.
Ivan is an expert in e-commerce, especially in terms of IP protection, consumer protection (including administrative proceedings with regulators such as the Czech Trade Inspection Authority and others), personal data protection and marketing law. As part of his legal career, he was at the birth of the first e-shops and engaged in the set-up of terms of their functioning among businesses and consumers, and is currently focusing not only on online shops but also on the legal functioning of the marketplace.
Ivan also advises on copyright and deals with domain disputes, unfair competition and IP-related disputes. Another area he specialises in is franchising, where he has provided expert advice to a number of multinational franchising networks and also to purely Czech and Slovak concerns.
As part of his practice, he provides expert advice to start-ups as well as larger companies and international corporations. Another area of his focus is venture capital and he particularly provides IP advice to investors, investment funds and start-ups.
Ivan also lectures and regularly publishes articles on these issues. He is the founder of the HAVEL&PARTNERS blog.
