Ivo Šimeček specialises in competition law, administrative proceedings and judicial review of the administrative decisions, public procurement, and state aid.
In the field of competition law, Ivo focuses on cases involving investigation of cartel agreements, cases related to the issue of dominance abuse and the regulation of business relations between suppliers and purchasers. In this respect, he also has extensive experience in applying the Czech Act on Significant Market Power in the sale of agricultural and food products. Ivo also focuses on issues related to the application of the Act on Prices. In addition, he focuses on state aid and market distortions. In the area of public procurement, Ivo has extensive experience in advising candidates and tenderers on their participation in public procurement procedures, including submission of joint tenders. Ivo also deals with diverse legal issues relating to the interpretation and application of EU law.
During his practice, Ivo has actively participated on representation of the interests of numerous major companies in proceedings before the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition, administrative courts, and also preparation of submissions and defense of clients’ interests in proceedings before the European Commission. Before joining our law firm, Ivo worked at the Czech Office for the Protection of Competition. Later, he completed a one-year postgraduate course on EU law in Germany in 2004 and joined a major Czech law firm, where he worked until 2010, specializing in competition law and public procurement.
