Kateřina Bárová specialises in family and criminal law.
In family law, Kateřina focuses mainly on legal advice and representing clients before the courts in proceedings concerning the regulation of relations with minor children, i.e. defining the custody of minor children, appropriate contact arrangements with them or determining the appropriate amount of maintenance and support. Kateřina also deals with divorce, the settlement of marital property and provides legal assistance to unwed mothers or divorced wives to assert their right to maintenance and support against the obligor. She also has experience in proceedings with an international reach concerning the return of minor children to their place of habitual residence.
In criminal law, Kateřina specialises primarily in the defence of the accused in pre-trial proceedings and in court proceedings, which generally involves participation in all acts in criminal proceedings and the preparation of relevant documents for the defence of the accused in criminal proceedings. When taking on representation after the final conclusion of a criminal case, Kateřina also deals with, for example, petitions for conditional release on parole, petitions for conditional early release or conditional release from completing the remainder of a sentence of prohibition to perform an occupation, or processing of motions for retrial. Among other things, Kateřina also assists injured persons in criminal proceedings, where she defends the rights of victims and their claims for compensation if any.
Before joining HAVEL & PARTNERS in 2021, Kateřina worked as an assistant judge at the District Court for Prague 9 (Criminal Division) and also as an assistant judge at the High Court in Olomouc (Civil Division). Then, she switched to legal practice and since 2014 has worked in several law firms providing general practice and gradually began to specialise in family and criminal law and enforcement and insolvency proceedings.
As a member of the Czech Bar Association, Kateřina participates in the Lawyers to Schools project that seeks to improve legal awareness among secondary school students in the Czech Republic.
