Martin Vejtasa specialises in competition law and state aid. He also provides legal advice in the areas of foreign investment screening (FDI), foreign subsidies regulation (FSR), unfair trading practices in the agricultural and food supply chain, compliance, and regulation, particularly in the environmental sector.
Martin represents companies before the Office for the Protection of Competition and the European Commission, particularly in cases involving anti-competitive agreements (cartels), abuse of dominance, and merger control. He also advises on the control of foreign investments and their approval by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Martin has experience in analysing competition law risks and state aid issues, including their approval by the European Commission. He is involved in audits, professional training, and preparation of compliance programmes for major companies.
Martin graduated from the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in 2019. As part of the Erasmus programme, he studied EU and international law at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in the Netherlands and gained a foundation in German law at the Universität Konstanz in Germany. In 2022, Martin graduated first in his class from the LL.M. Programme in International and European Business Law at KU Leuven in Belgium (magna cum laude), with a specialization in EU competition law, internal market law, financial regulation, and the law of the World Trade Organization.
Prior to his return to our law firm in 2023, he worked in EU competition law enforcement at the European Commission in Brussels (DG COMP), in the Antitrust Unit focused on the energy and environmental sectors. Martin also developed expertise in environmental law during his previous work for an international law firm and a non-profit organization.
